Maker launch guide
Ready for your first order
Check your equipment, customer information and policies before you open.
1. Business, prices & test print
Add your own business name, press sizes and prices. Confirm every cutter size against your equipment, print at Actual size / 100%, check the ruler and press a physical test. Recheck after changing your printer, paper, cutter or press.
Use paper compatible with your printer and press supplier’s instructions. There is no universal paper weight for every machine.
2. Your customer website policies
You are the seller. Your policies must describe your own business and customer arrangements, not Fern Dale’s.
- Business details: legal/trading name, geographical business address, contact email and company/VAT details where applicable.
- Terms of sale: ordering, total prices, payment, complaints and what happens if goods are faulty or not as described.
- Delivery & returns: where you deliver, charges, making/dispatch times and cancellation arrangements. Clearly personalised goods may be exempt from the usual 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right; this does not remove faulty-goods rights.
- Privacy: who controls customer data, purposes and lawful bases, recipients, retention, rights and how to complain to the ICO. Include your own email, accounting, postage and other services.
- Events: maker-written booking terms, deposit/balance arrangements, travel, cancellation and rescheduling. Cancellation charges must be fair; do not assume every deposit can always be kept.
- Cookies & tracking: review the actual cookies and device storage used. Non-essential tracking needs the appropriate consent before it starts. A policy page alone is not consent.
This checklist is guidance, not legal advice or a compliance certificate. Have your final wording reviewed for your business.
3. Photos & optional AI
Use photos only for the customer’s order. Keep the fixed photo privacy promise unchanged, and delete any downloaded sheets or local copies within the same deadlines. Obtain separate permission for advertising or samples. AI illustration is optional and requires the customer’s permission before their photo is sent for generation. Do not promise exact likeness or rights you cannot verify.
Relic’s own privacy notice, maker subscription terms and controller/processor agreement are separate from your customer terms. Provider details, international transfers and the final data-processing agreement need review before launch.
4. Payments & a complete rehearsal
Finish connecting your maker Stripe account. Test upload, crop, order receipt, exact-size printing and collection. For a postal shop, also test checkout, paid order read-back and dispatch. Opening a print sheet must not mark an order collected or posted. Guest uploads, AI and card payments need an internet connection.
