Terms of Use

Version 1.3 · Updated 2 November 2026

Relic & Press is provided by Kathryn Barnes, trading as Fern Dale Handcrafted (“we”, “us”, “our”). These are business-to-business software terms: you use the service for your maker business, not as a consumer buying a personal product. Your customers buy their products and event services from you, under your own terms of sale.

By using Relic & Press you agree to these terms, including the customer-data processing terms and schedule in section 5. Nothing here removes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

1. Your account and licence

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Relic & Press for your own maker business in line with your active plan. Keep your account details accurate and your sign-in credentials secure. Do not share credentials, resell access, impersonate another maker or let another business use your account.

Your business records and customer photos remain private to your account. We provide the software and storage; we do not run your business, fulfil your orders or routinely browse your records. Limited access for support you request, security investigations or legal obligations is explained in our privacy notice. You remain responsible for actions taken through your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

2. Plans, payments and cancellation

The free trial lasts 14 days and does not require a card to start. Paid options are Basic event (£14), Pro event (£20), Basic (£22 per month) and Pro (£35 per month). Event passes cover 72 hours from payment; an additional pass starts when your current pass ends. Pro event includes event mosaics and 100 AI generations during that pass, not year-round Pro branding or a postal shop; monthly plans renew automatically unless cancelled. The checkout shows the amount and billing arrangements before you pay.

Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades and cancellation take effect at renewal. Manage your subscription, card details and invoices through your studio's billing controls. Cancelling a monthly plan stops future renewals; it does not cancel orders or bookings you have accepted from your own customers.

A year-round postal shop requires paid Pro, not the ordinary trial, Basic or an Event pass. The features you can use depend on your current plan. When paid access ends, access to past records follows the account's permissions, while new activity and paid features may be restricted. Photos still expire on their normal schedule.

Fees already paid are not normally refunded simply because you stop using the service during a paid period. This does not affect refunds or remedies required by law; contact us about an incorrect charge or a service problem.

3. You are the seller

You, not Relic & Press, sell the products and event services offered through your maker shop or event. You set your products, prices, delivery charges, availability, customer terms and booking arrangements. You are responsible for making and supplying orders, customer communications, complaints, cancellations, refunds and any tax or regulatory obligations that apply to your business.

Before selling, provide your own legal/trading name, geographical business address, contact details, terms of sale, delivery and returns information and privacy notice. Event booking terms must reflect your own packages, deposits, travel and cancellation arrangements. These details and policies must reflect your own business.

Clearly personalised goods may be exempt from the usual distance-selling change-of-mind cancellation right. This does not remove customers' rights if goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet statutory requirements. The exception depends on the product being genuinely personalised, rather than simply made to order. Your terms and cancellation charges must be fair and lawful.

4. Customer card payments

Customer card purchases are processed by Stripe on the maker's connected Stripe account. Relic & Press subscription and AI-credit payments are separate platform purchases. We do not see or store full card numbers.

You must complete Stripe's verification and follow its terms. You are responsible for your own customer refunds and payment disputes. Changing an order to “cancelled” in Relic & Press does not itself issue a Stripe refund. Wait for payment confirmation before treating an order as paid.

5. Photos, permissions and customer data

Only upload, accept or use photos, names, wording and artwork you own or have permission to use. You confirm that you have the necessary rights and lawful authority to submit content or instruct your customers to submit it. The person submitting a photo must have the authority needed to use it, including appropriate parent or guardian permission where children are shown. Do not treat permission to fulfil an order as permission to advertise it.

Use customer photos only to make the order and deal with any necessary reprint before the deletion deadline. Do not sell them, publish them, post them on social media or use them as samples without separate written permission. Keep print sheets, offcuts and any other copies secure; dispose of them safely when no longer needed.

The Privacy & data notice gives the fixed photo schedule. Live event photos expire at the earliest of 48 hours after collection, 24 hours after cancellation or 14 days after upload. The 14-day limit also applies to uncollected orders; waiting for collection or finishing an order does not extend it. Postal photos have a 14-day upload maximum, shortened to 24 hours after cancellation. Delete downloaded PDFs and local photo copies within the same applicable deadlines. Relic & Press cannot erase files from your devices.

You retain control of the customer information you collect for your business and are its controller. Relic & Press acts as your processor by hosting and automatically handling that information so your ordering, photo and fulfilment tools work. This does not give us permission to routinely view your customers' photos or use your records for our own marketing or other unrelated purposes.

We will process this information only on your documented instructions, including your use of the service and these terms, unless the law requires otherwise. Those instructions include any international transfers needed to provide the service, subject to applicable data-protection requirements and lawful safeguards. We will tell you about a legal requirement where permitted, and tell you if an instruction appears to breach data-protection law. You must provide a lawful basis and a clear customer privacy notice; your own terms cannot extend the photo deadlines.

We treat your customers' information in strict confidence. Anyone we authorise to handle it must be bound by a duty of confidentiality, either through a confidentiality commitment or an appropriate legal obligation. We will use appropriate security measures and notify you without undue delay if we become aware of a personal-data breach affecting information we process for you. We will provide available information about its nature, affected records, likely consequences and response, and supplement that information as our investigation progresses. Taking account of the processing and information available to us, we will help with customer rights requests, security obligations, breach notifications, data-protection impact assessments and prior consultation with regulators where required.

By agreeing to these terms, you give us general written authorisation to use the service providers described in the schedule below and our privacy notice as sub-processors, where they process customer information on our behalf. We will require equivalent applicable processor commitments and remain responsible to you for their performance of those obligations. We will notify you of intended additions or replacements before the change takes effect, so you have an opportunity to raise a reasonable data-protection objection. We will discuss the objection and available alternatives before using the changed provider for your affected information.

When processing ends, we will return or delete the customer information at your choice and delete remaining copies, unless retention is required by law; expired photos cannot be restored. We will provide information reasonably needed to demonstrate compliance and allow and contribute to audits, including inspections, by you or an auditor you appoint. Reasonable confidentiality and security arrangements must protect other users' information without preventing the exercise of your statutory audit rights.

Customer-data processing schedule

Subject matter, purpose and activities
Providing your customer ordering, booking and fulfilment tools: receiving, storing, retrieving and organising records and photos; preparing crops, personalised designs and print layouts; tracking order and payment status; and deleting expired photos. Optional AI sends only the selected image and style instructions when the customer consents. Print PDFs are prepared on your device, not stored online by us.
People whose information is processed
Your customers, event visitors, booking contacts, gift recipients and people shown in submitted photos.
Types of information
Names, contact details, postal delivery addresses where needed, order and booking details, transaction references and payment status, photos and personalisation choices. Full payment-card numbers are not held by Relic & Press. Photos may incidentally reveal sensitive information; you remain responsible for any additional lawful condition required, and must not instruct us to use images for biometric identification.
Duration and deletion
Processing continues while we provide the relevant services, subject to your lawful instructions and any legal retention duty. Live photos follow the earliest 48-hour collection, 24-hour cancellation or 14-day upload deadline; postal photos follow the earlier 14-day upload or 24-hour cancellation deadline. Originals and stored derivatives share the deadline. Access ends at the deadline; hourly cleanup may complete permanent removal up to one hour later in normal operation. Non-photo records follow your lawful retention instructions and the return/deletion arrangements above. Separate temporary AI-provider records follow the published arrangements in our privacy notice.
Providers and their roles
Lovable and its managed infrastructure providers support hosting, storage, authentication and service operation; Lovable also routes optional AI requests to OpenAI. OpenAI receives the selected photo and prompt only for optional AI generation. These providers act as sub-processors to the extent they process customer information on our behalf. Stripe handles payments on your connected account and has its own controller responsibilities; it is not treated as our sub-processor for all payment activities. The privacy notice explains provider access, published AI retention arrangements and international-transfer safeguards.
Your instructions and responsibilities
You decide what customer information to collect and why, provide a privacy notice before collection, establish the applicable lawful bases and permissions, respond to customer rights requests and keep your devices and downloaded sheets secure. The mandatory photo deadlines cannot be extended by your instructions.

6. Your content and maker artwork

Your uploaded photographs, artwork, shop wording and business records remain yours or the property of their rightful owner. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence, limited to hosting, processing and displaying them as needed to provide the service, including showing the shop content you choose to publish and preparing customers' ordered designs. This does not permit unrelated use, sale or marketing of your private content, and ends when that processing is no longer needed, subject to lawful retention.

Uploading full artwork or an overlay does not transfer ownership to us or other makers. You are responsible for the licence covering your use of purchased graphics, fonts, photographs, logos and designs. The Relic & Press software, interface, layout engines, branding and documentation remain ours or our licensors'; your subscription gives you use rights, not ownership. Do not copy or resell them without permission.

7. Printing and product quality

Confirm your own cutter measurements for every size. Print at Actual size / 100%, measure the ruler, test-cut and press a sample before taking orders. Recheck when equipment or paper changes. Suggested measurements and supplier templates are starting points; you still need to check them against your own equipment.

You are responsible for checking crops, spelling, dates, photo quality, design placement and the finished item. Past orders keep the geometry saved when they were placed. Opening a PDF or print preview does not mark an order made, collected or posted. Using Relic & Press does not replace your own product-safety or regulatory checks.

8. Optional AI illustrations and credits

AI illustration runs only when a customer chooses it and gives permission for the selected photo to be sent. Makers choose which styles and backdrops to offer and the generation limit per photo. The available allowance and paid packs are shown in the studio. Pro monthly includes 100 generations per billing month; Pro event includes 100 during its 72-hour pass, with unused event generations expiring when that pass ends; additional packs are £6 for 100 or £12 for 250 generations. AI access depends on your account and plan.

Illustrations are drafts: they may change faces, details, colours or wording and may contain errors. Review the result before ordering, printing, publishing or relying on it. Exact likeness, uniqueness, copyright protection and freedom from third-party claims are not guaranteed. Device-based black-and-white, mono, sepia and faded-film filters are not AI and use no AI generation credits.

AI illustrations are produced by an OpenAI image model through Lovable's AI service. Your use of generated images remains subject to applicable law and the providers' terms. We do not guarantee that an image is free from third-party rights or offer an indemnity for claims relating to generated content.

Please contact us promptly in writing if a claim relates to generated content and keep the relevant order and generation details.

9. Acceptable use and safeguarding

Do not use Relic & Press to break the law, infringe intellectual property, harass or threaten anyone, upload harmful code, collect others' information without authority, bypass access controls or interfere with the service.

We may restrict access to unlawful or harmful content and investigate suspected abuse. Where we reasonably believe a child or vulnerable person is at risk, or the law requires disclosure, we may share the minimum relevant information with police, safeguarding services, a court or a regulator. We may be unable to notify you if notification is prohibited or would put someone at risk. Relic & Press does not provide a continuous safeguarding or emergency monitoring service.

10. Availability and responsibility

We use commercially reasonable endeavours and reasonable care to provide the software. We cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free availability, recovery of every deleted file or compatibility with every printer and device. Planned maintenance, emergency security work and third-party outages may interrupt access; we will give advance notice of planned material downtime where practicable and take reasonable steps to restore the service. There is no guaranteed uptime percentage. Guest uploads, AI and card payments need an internet connection. Local venue Wi-Fi, mobile signal, your equipment and external payment or AI services are not entirely within our control; device-based offline tools do not make those online services available without signal.

Check outputs before use and keep appropriate copies of non-photo business records. Do not retain customer photos beyond their deadlines for backup purposes. We are responsible for our own delivery of the service; third-party involvement does not remove obligations the law places on us.

Subject to the exceptions below and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business opportunities or goodwill, or indirect or consequential losses arising from your business use of the service.

Subject to the exceptions below, our total liability to you arising from or relating to Relic & Press is limited to the subscription and Event pass fees you paid us in the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim. This is a combined limit for related claims, not a separate limit for each claim.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability or rights that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. These business-to-business limits do not limit an individual's statutory data-protection rights or a regulator's powers.

11. Suspension, changes and business transfer

We may suspend or end access for non-payment, unlawful use, security risks or a material breach of these terms. Where practicable we will explain the reason and let you respond. Urgent action may be needed to protect people or the service. Contact us about access to your business records; a suspension does not extend customer-photo retention.

We may update the service and these terms. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. If the Relic & Press business is sold or transferred, information needed to continue the service may pass to the new operator under the privacy notice. Your email must not be sold as a standalone marketing list or used for unrelated marketing without an appropriate lawful basis.

If a provision is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Delays outside our reasonable control do not remove statutory rights; we will take reasonable steps to restore the service and discuss any remedies required by law.

12. Governing law and contact

We aim to send a first reply within 1 working day for paid Pro makers and 2 working days for other requests. Working days are Monday–Friday, excluding UK bank holidays. These are reply targets, not guaranteed resolution times; we will keep you updated if more investigation is needed. Data/privacy rights and complaints remain subject to the legal response rules in our privacy notice, regardless of plan.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales may hear disputes; this does not remove any mandatory right a consumer has to bring proceedings in their home jurisdiction.
